South Beach
This ?new? neighborhood on the northeast outskirts of the City is the location of AT&T Park, a classically designed baseball stadium that opened in 2000, and whose features include a waterfront promenade (overlooking China Basin to the southeast and the San Francisco Bay to the northeast), an elaborate children?s playground, and a free viewing area outside the ballpark along the Embarcadero. The home of Major League Baseball?s San Francisco Giants, the construction of AT&T Park brought with it an influx of modern shops and restaurants, which further resuscitated the once desolate area. The architecture of South Beach are along the lines of what one might see in the modern condominium complexes in the neighboring Mission Bay and South of Market districts. The weather is generally sunny, but prone to fog during the day, cool yet comfortable at night. A number of streetcars provide access to BART and other MUNI bus lines. The Bay Bridge is a prominent landmark visible from many vantage points and commands a premium when seen from one of the many condominiums in the area.
