Financial District
The Financial District is an arresting mix of modern architecture, traditional sandstone-clad buildings, contemporary condominiums, and old-time San Francisco history.
The main thoroughfare, Market Street, cuts diagonally across downtown and into the heart of the City, from the Embarcadero to the Civic Center to the Mission District and all the way into the Castro. The 50-storey-high Transamerica Pyramid building is the predominant landmark in the Financial District, while the Moscone Convention Center, the San Francisco Shopping Centre, the IMAX Theatre are all located nearby. Prestige properties include the Ritz-Carlton Residences, the Montgomery Washington Tower and the Golden Gate Commons.
Condominiums, cooperative apartments, Tenancies-in-common, and multiunit buildings are the exclusive nature of property in this part of town, as land value far exceeds the economics of a single-family dwelling.
Transportation is ideal with BART, Muni underground and surface cars along Market Street, and several buses at the ready. Parking is at a premium.
