Presidio Heights
A small, affluent neighborhood in the northwest part of San Francisco, Presidio Heights is the gateway to the Presidio, the historic former military base now under the domain of the Presidio Trust and the National Park Service. Second only to Pacific Heights for the number of architect designed homes, Presidio Heights offers a diverse assortment of building styles.
Among its many landmarks, the Presidio is home to Crissy Field, a onetime airfield that now serves as a popular recreational area (including the site of San Francisco?s annual Fourth of July fireworks display), and the Letterman Digital Arts Center. Built on the site of the former Letterman Army Hospital, the Letterman Digital Arts Center is headquarters for Industrial Light and Magic and LucasArts, the pioneer digital film and animation studio founded by Academy Award winner George Lucas.
