Twin Peaks
West of Noe Valley and the Castro, Twin Peaks is a scenic residential area nestled atop two hills with an approximate elevation of 922 feet. Located at the geographic center of San Francisco, the dual summits form the second highest natural point in the City (Mount Davidson, at 925 feet, is the highest). The top of Twin Peaks offers unobstructed views of the San Francisco Bay as well as most of San Francisco itself. A reservoir owned by the San Francisco Fire Department is to the north, while the Twin Peaks Tunnel, used exclusively for San Francisco's MUNI Railway, at the base, links Downtown San Francisco with West Portal. Terracing streets enable many homes on the east side of Twin Peaks to capture postcard views through large picture windows.
