Westwood Park
Located south of Mound Davidson and west of San Francisco City College, Westwood Park is a small residential neighborhood of 600 homes built in the 1920s and 1930s. Though originally conceived as ?a model community for the family of average means,? it is considered today one of the more appealing cohesive areas of the City, not to mention among its more noteworthy. The bungalow-style homes in Westwood Park have been featured in many books, newspaper articles and architectural magazines, recognized as much for their design as for the crooked streets, sharp inclines and eucalyptus trees that mark the area. Westwood Park is also one of several neighborhoods in the vicinity of Mount Davidson (Sherwood Forest, Monterey Heights, Mount Davidson Manor and Westwood Heights being the others) known as ?the woods? because many of the street names in the area, such as Brentwood, Dalewood, Ridgewood and Rollingwood, end with the suffix ?-wood.?
The area remains a mainstay for individuals and families of all ages who love period architectural character and value.
