Oceanside / Oceanview
Contrary to what its name suggests, the Oceanside district is actually situated alongside I-280 (which borders the neighborhood to the south and east) and the Ingleside and Ingleside Heights districts (its neighbors to the north and west, respectively). Built along a slope, the homes are frequently post-WWII built and known as Junior-Fives (i.e., functional two-story layouts attached to its neighbors on two sides with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a single-car garage and windows along the front and backyard sides). However, the early settlers constructed homes as far back as the 1920s.
Sometimes known as ?Oceanview,? that name is also misleading?given its location, the Oceanside district does not so much offer views of the Pacific Ocean as it does the Outer Mission (its neighboring district to the south) and nearby Daly City. However, the area is close enough to the ocean to make it subject typical seaside location. Wind, fog and overcast skies tend to dominate the summers.
