Merced Manor / Lake Merced Hill
Merced Manor is a small tract community of single-family homes many of which were built in the Spanish-Revival style; it is located just south of Sigmund Stern Grove and also known as ?Lake Merced Hill.? Its borders run north/south from Sloat Boulevard to Eucalyptus Drive, and east/west from 19th Avenue/Highway 1 to 26th Avenue.
Lowell High School, one of the oldest and most prestigious public high schools in the United States, is located on Eucalyptus Drive near 19th Avenue. The Merced Manor reservoir is on Sloat Boulevard near 22nd Avenue, in the approximate center of the neighborhood, while a few blocks further south you?ll find San Francisco State University and the Stonestown shopping center.
The cool ocean air makes for lovely rhododendron growing and the many of the large lots throughout the neighborhood burst with blooms from April through June.
