Lakeshore
A quiet, suburban-like community comprised mostly of white-painted houses with two-car garages and spacious front lawns, the Lakeshore district is bordered roughly by Sloat Boulevard to the north, Eucalyptus Drive and Lake Merced Boulevard to the south, 19th Avenue/Highway 1 to the east and Skyline Boulevard to the west. Originally designed in the late 1940s and early 1950s as a middle class neighborhood, it is now considered an upscale area due to rising property values, not to mention its close proximity to several golf courses (Harding Park, the Olympic Country Club and the San Francisco Golf Club are all within driving distance). Like many districts on the western side of the City, though, Lakeshore can be occasionally foggy and overcast. The neighborhood also features many bike trails, while the San Francisco Zoo, Stern Grove and the Stonestown Galleria shopping center are all close by.
