Lake
This quiet residential enclave is another one of San Francisco's "garden suburbs." Bounded by the Presidio to the north, the greater Richmond District to the south, Arguello Boulevard to the east and Sea Cliff to the west, the Lake Street area is marked by many flat, tree-lined streets, an array of Victorian flats, cottages and apartment buildings, and the usual Richmond District weather (overcast skies in the morning, sunny yet cool in the afternoon). Mountain Lake Park and the Presidio Golf Course are both northeast of Lake Street, while St. Anne's Home for the Aged, a San Francisco fixture since 1901, is located on 4th Avenue and Lake. A residence devoted to the care of the elderly and infirmed, St. Anne's Home is run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, a Roman Catholic order of nuns whose founder, Jeanne Jugan, was canonized in Rome in October 2009.
